Have you ever heard Imam sahib praying after Juma prayers for the improvement of rule of law in this country, improvement of judicial system so as the poor and the rich my get equal quality of justice in an effective and efficient way? I realized this the last time I heard Imam sahib particularly when he sought peace and prosperity for this country ... in a heart beat a thought struck that why doesn't he or any other Imam whom I have heard, since the time I remember going to the masjid for prayers, praying for the strengthening of the mechanism which eventually brings peace and prosperity of a given society, namely the quick and effective system to provide justice to whom it is due?
This though struck me also because we claim to live in a country which was founded on ideological basis ... the ideology being Islam, and Islam is perhaps for strongest most advocate of establishment of Justice in the society, in fact in the Holy Qur'an (Surah Hadeed, verse 25) it is mentioned that this is one of the core objectives of Islam.
"We sent aforetime our messengers with Clear Signs and sent down with them the Book and the Balance (of Right and Wrong), that men may stand forth in justice; and We sent down Iron, in which is (material for) mighty war, as well as many benefits for mankind, that Allah may test who it is that will help, Unseen, Him and His messengers: For Allah is Full of Strength, Exalted in Might (and able to enforce His Will)."
The responsibility to emphasize on this matter lies first and foremost on Scholars of Islam, however the public, the civil societies, and media, all of whom create hue and cry on all sort of trival issues (even), are ironically silent on this issue despite the fact that the ineffective and inefficient judicial system is the root of almost all problems of this society (read: Some Interesting Facts on Pakistan Judicial System) ... the priests of power in this country are merely untouchables and the common man is bring gunned down on streets ... lucky we are that still the wrath of Allah swt hasn't befallen on this nation as yet, as what else could be the most vivid proof of our collective hypocrisy.
Kashif Hafeez also seconds this argument in his recent article:
