I almost stopped consuming sugar and sugary stuff almost 2 years back (i still do but very occasionally), and I don't seems to have lost anything, perhaps gained in terms of the health benefits of avoiding a toxin (the scientific literature is easy to find on the internet) ...
The argument that poor people get some of their daily calorie requirement met through sugar do not account for the health implications which makes the poor much more vulnerable, they should rather save their money now, save their health and save the money which they may have to spend if they develop a health condition with its persistent use, rather many of them unfortunately beg around for money for this purpose ...
We need to raise awareness like we do against narcotics ...
