The scientific approach incorporates rational and empirical analysis to reach to conclusions. Being rational scientific approach look for empirically verifiable causes of anything which happens or exists. Like the creation of the universe, world, life, and every thing else. Scientific method takes the falsification approach to disprove the claims made by previous scientists, and accepts a claim until it’s falsified with evidence. In this context any claim which isn't falsifiable like religious narrative about the nature of world, life & its purpose, the Creator & its characteristics, and the life after death or judgment day etc. is rather termed as superstitious by science.
Religion on the other hand considers revelation or wahi and its interpretation by the prophets to be the final authority. All answered given by divine scriptures and the prophets regarding the questions about life, death and this world or the next one will be considered definitive. Religion however does not restrict the use of logic and experience until and unless they remains within the prescribed boundaries and facilitates in the process of submission to the divine will. In view of Quran a person is only intelligent if he recognizes the truth as described in Quran itself and uses his observations of the world to further strengthen his belief. This however is an absurdity in the light of scientific approach.
Modern science as we know it today is a product of enlightenment movement of Europe where we see rationalism taking the place of religion so much so that attempts were made to answer the metaphysical questions about life, death, morality, creation etc. with the help of logic or rationalistic thinking and using empirical human observations. The limits of human senses and logic is the limit of science hence the limit of the knowledge in the modern world, as nicely put by Akbar Ala Abadi
Iqbal also explained this disparity:
And at another place Iqbal asserted in Persian:

منزلوں دور ان کی دانش سے خدا کی ذات ہے
خوردبین اور دوربین تک ان کی بس اوکت ہے
Iqbal also explained this disparity:
محسوس پر بنا ہے عالم جدید کی
اس دور میں ہے شیشہ عقائد کا پاش پاش
And at another place Iqbal asserted in Persian:
دانش حاضر حجاب اکبر است
بت پرست و بت فروش و بت گرست
This means that the modern framework of knowledge, which is based on rationalism and empiricism, is a great barrier, a veil rather, between mankind and the Divine, instead this frame of knowledge creates idols for mankind to worship.
