Pakistan ka matlab Kiya?

Pakistan is 6th populous country in the world, with an overwhelming Muslim majority (96%). This is not just it, the vast majority of the public adheres to traditional Islamic values, and demands implementation of shariah law in the country (see the video embedded below), in Pakistan the largest Madrassa and Masajid network exists all operating free of cost with the support of local business community. Consumption of alcohol and the night life or prostitution industry which does exists but is a taboo, is behind the doors, unlike in other countries with Muslim majority.

Pakistan on the other hand is the only Muslim country where it is categorically declared in its constitution that any of the law will be in accordance with Quran and Sunnah (click here to see)... this is often bluntly violated; however this foundation provides a basis for many to question any of the clauses of constitutions and introducing new ones like charging interest to be declared as a criminal offence (this has already been passed in Punjab Assembly by MNA Humaira Owais Shahid).

It is also mandatory on Pakistan government to provide religious education to its subjects and all members of parliament to be practicing Muslims (article 62, 63), pious and honest individuals (the criterion for seats dedicated for non-Muslims is also mentioned in the same articles)

In this context it is even worth reading article 31 of Pakistani constitution:
31.Islamic way of life:
(1) Steps shall be taken to enable the Muslims of Pakistan, individually and collectively, to order their lives in accordance with the fundamental principles and basic concepts of Islam and to provide facilities whereby they may be enabled to understand the meaning of life according to the Holy Quran and Sunnah.
(2) The state shall endeavour, as respects the Muslims of Pakistan:
      (a) to make the teaching of the Holy Quran and Islamiat compulsory, to encourage and facilitate the learning of Arabic language and to secure correct and exact printing and publishing of the Holy Quran;
      (b) to promote unity and the observance of the Islamic moral standards; and
      (c) to secure the proper organisation of zakat, [ushr,] auqaf and mosques.
This is utterly against the classical concept of a secular, liberal democracy, as secular state is not at all responsible to sponsor any religious ideology and promote it through its resources. Any honest government in Pakistan, which is not an impossibility in near future, can implement on these articles. A secular however government must not do so, as its a secular sin in the eyes of secular & liberal thinkers (a naked aggression against the human mind, see Reisman's Capitalism, last chapter).

This looks more significant when the classical liberal, secular atmosphere (either in the form of dictatorship, monarchy or democracy) is gradually being adopted by other Muslim countries as compare to Pakistan.

It is in fact true that process of mass liberalization and modernization is also initiated in a very organized way, however it has hardly scratched the strong traditional roots of the masses. The constitutional clauses, the network of madaris and masajid all across the country, the increasing attendance at congregation at masajids (noticed by many), the rejection of secular & liberal values by social media, the public reaction to the spree of vulgar (not so as compare to what you see in Dubai or Turkey) billboard of lawn ads last summer, is all a proof that religion holds a relatively stronger presence in Pakistani public as compare to other Muslim countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, etc.

And on the top of it all Pakistan is a Nuclear Power, and this is exactly what makes it a country of key strategic importance, for the liberal & secular world. The general sympathies for Taliban among the masses, in the neighboring Afghanistan, even after 12 years of US occupation, only makes the importance of Pakistan, a nuclear power, more supreme.

The Pakistani media, which is most likely funded by western powers, has tried its level best in the past 5 years at least to confuse the public by labeling TTP (an organization with dubious affiliations) as Taliban and holding them responsible for every terrorist activity and disruption within the country. However the credibility of the media is only established among the liberal elite minority of the country. The vast majority doesn't have a blind faith in it, as its partiality is frequently questioned by the masses. The social media, used operated by the youth of Pakistan, reflects this reality loud and clear.

RAND corporation has already declared it as 'War of Ideas' between western Secular liberal Political identity and traditional Islam. Something which is very much embedded in the original slogan of the country "Pakistan ka Matlab Kia, La Ilaha Illal lah"...

RAND in its report "Building Moderate Muslim Networks" has recommended the same strategy used to defeat communism in various countries i.e. of discrediting the opponents ideology through psychological, intellectual and ideological warfare; which is to be fought in the media and academia. This RAND report explicitly outlined the game plan drafted and executed by CIA to discredit communist ideology in the eyes of public during cold war, and how it can be used to discredit Traditional Islam today.

RAND in this report admitted that CIA provided funding to various news papers, radio stations, authors & academics, in countries with strong presence of communists, who would promote liberal and capitalistic ideology by discrediting communism. This report explains all the channels through which the funds were transferred in how much quantity and how the entire operations were camouflaged from the eyes of the public to hide its true nature. This report categorically recommends using the same strategy with little modifications to defeat and discredit Islam's traditional. In this context the tag line used in Geo TV Zara Sochiye, most likely a foreign funded campaign (the RAND report leaves no doubts here), isn't a surprize which says 'Parhne likhne ke siwa; Pakistan ka matlab hi kiya'...

Having said this, all the disturbance we see in this country can easily be linked with the agenda of secular and liberal world to secularize and liberalize the rest. This is in fact considered by them as their natural responsibility (see Edward Said's Culture & Imperialism or click here if you can know what enlightenment movement means). It is not doubt that Pakistan has lots of internal weaknesses, but due to all of the above reasons, the secular & liberal powers cannot allow Pakistan to stand strong by solving all those internal problems. It is an open secret that foreign interference is a reality in Pakistan, from TTP to BLA to the proxy armies in Karachi, all have foreign support. The disturbance which they cause only destabilize Pakistan, but what isn't being realized by these foreign powers is that this disturbance is only bringing people closer to their religion, as the more tense the atmosphere becomes the more religion provide solace and internal peace to the followers. The disturbance therefore is perceived as a test from Allah s.w.t and motivates the believers to pray more in difficult times. And in the wake of all the miseries and sorrows, it would be little surprising to imagine Pakistan materialize it original objective and meaning i.e. "Pakistan ka Matlab Kia, La Ilaha Illal lah"...
