Come on dudes, its a sponsored media, it private enterprise to maximize its bottom-line, its objective is first and foremost, like any other private corporation, is to maximize profits, which depends on the money it receives from other corporations in lieu of promotional campaigns or advertisements, which depends on how much viewership it has ... so what do you expect it is going to upheld the neutrality principle? How much they would get if they remain neutral? Come on there is no rocket science here Media gets the money to convince its audience or public to hold some kind of opinions beneficial for those who paid for it ... let it be buying a particular type of product or changing ones perception or even beliefs 'Parhne likne-e-ke siwa Pakistan ka Matlab Kiya' in lieu of USAID funding ... I mean what difference is there really is in a prostitute, a private entertainer ... perhaps not much, perhaps its intellectual prostitution is at its best ... but who cares about moral values, when Money become everything ...
Journalists or reporters are not the ones to be blamed perhaps, as they really do what their bosses on the top tells them to do ... they have a family to feed, a rent of a house & school fee of their kids to be paid, let alone maintenance of the lavish standard of living which has been idealized by the same media which prays on them ... what choice they do really have? Though there are several exceptions who uphold values and principles above everything else, but that requires a level courage & belief which has gone obsolete now a days ... as most journalists and reporters have opted to remained intellectual prostitutes, though often they do it forcefully; what choice do they really have ... And of course there are life threats as well, what would their family and kids do if the only breadwinner is shot for writing or reporting something which infuriates some mafia, gang or a political thug ...
A lot can be written here, but the implication of the arguments are already clear, how come one can believe what he or she sees on the screen ... thanks to the social media, lots of biases are now being challenged and questioned though immaturely. When with a lots of funding and sponsorship the media is hell-bent to change perception of the public for the benefit of the powerful, then we doesn't really have much of a choice other than to look at alternative ways like that of Social Media to make sense of our present reality ...
