At TED sociologist Sam Richards sets an extraordinary challenge: can the Americans understand -- not approve of, but understand -- the motivations of an Iraqi insurgent? And by extension, can anyone truly understand and empathize with another?
We can also experiment the same by putting ourself into the shoes of say people of Waziristan, or people living below poverty line in our community, or any social class which is loathed by the rest. The result, as Sam suggest would be truly insightful and perhaps alter the way we think about the social class
I feel the need to share this video as I believe that un-empathetic mindset that is becoming common every day is only increasing the social divide amongst various social classes is our society. If this happens then it will only add to the disturbance and distance amongst the classes, instead of the bridging the gaps.

Please note that listening and understanding the arguments of, say your enemy or counter party, doesn't mean that you are also willing to accept them as well. Though it is believed that understanding is the first step toward reconciliation and it would help you to develop an appropriate response, and would allow you to reach a state of peaceful co-existance.
